NORWAY – The 2007 Norway Summer Festival will get under way on Friday, March 9, with a kickoff spaghetti supper, serving from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Norway Unitarian Universalist Church, 479 Main St.

In addition to Chef Charles Longley’s spaghetti and meatballs, the supper will include salad, Italian bread and peach melba.

The public is invited to attend for $10 a person for food and entertainment. The festival coordinator and committee members will be on hand, and the Bedard Trio will perform old-fashioned tunes on the keyboard and fiddles, and a Mellie Dunham song or two.

There will be poetry readings from the “Poets on the Porch” and a special preview of sidewalk art show works.

The surprises of the evening will be announcements of the festival’s 2007 focus figure and the festival’s musical performer for the Saturday night street dance.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Norway Memorial Library or Books N Things. They will also be available from festival committee members, Norway Downtown Revitalization board members and at the supper on March 9. For details, call the Norway Memorial Library at 743-5309.
