INDUSTRY – Along with incumbent Selectman Earl “Lee” Ireland, who was running unopposed, voters Saturday chose incumbent Robert Geisser for the two-year selectman’s term. Geisser received 121 votes to 72 votes for Winston Nickerson III.

For the three-year selectman’s seat, Michael Senecal was chosen with 119 votes to Lewis Glidden Jr.’s 71 votes.

During the annual town meeting Saturday, the summer road improvement request for $100,000 passed, Town Clerk Angelina Davis said. The expenditure will increase the tax levy limit but she was not able to say by how much at this time. The town has appropriated $40,000 for road improvements for the past two years.

All other articles passed except for citizen-initiated articles, Davis said. Those included one to have all town officials elected by Australian ballot in 2008. Industry voters had recently given selectmen the authority to appoint the town clerk, treasurer, tax collector and road commissioner.

The others were for a 1.5 percent refund to early taxpayers; the publishing of town employees salaries, wages and perks in the town report; and a request for selectmen to change the annual report to a simpler format.
