WOODSTOCK – Wading through a warrant of 49 articles Monday, an assembly of about 90 residents approved a municipal budget of $1,121,076, up $66,667 from last year.

They also approved using $485,243 from surplus, excise and state reimbursement to lower the increase to $35,959.

The major areas of the budget include $553,705 in road maintenance, $182,000 for solid waste disposal, $125,032 in general government expenses and $107,114 in insurances.

Costs for SAD 44 and Oxford County are estimated at $850,000 and $86,000, respectively.

Voters passed a change in the dog ordinance requiring owners to clean up after their pets when walking them on town or privately land. If not, they face a fine of not less than $50 for the first offense and $100 for a second or subsequent offense. Enforcement would be up to the animal control officer.

Ronald Deegan was elected to a three-year term as selectman, assessor and overseer of the poor with 42 votes to Percy McInnis’ 37.

July Davis was chosen for a three-year term on the SAD 44 board, and Marta Clements and Jane Mills were elected to three-year terms on the Whitman Memorial Library board of trustees.
