LEWISTON – “Graffixx and Friends,” a benefit show and dance, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Lewiston Lodge of Elks, 1675 Lisbon St. Graffixx, comprised of Susan Dube Myrand, Lina Hussey and Marge Bourgoin, and the Elks Lodge have planned the event to benefit the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

The show will consist of other local performers, including Debbie Morin, Jeanne Martin, Rhonda Trask, Tony Brewer, Charlene Leclair, BJ Garrett and the Rockin’ Recons.

There will be many gift certificates, donated by local businesses, to be won. Doors will open at 6:30 and munchies will be provided by the Dot Fernald Team of ERA Worden Realty. Tickets, $10 in advance, are available at the Elks Lodge, 784-4801, or by calling Hussey at 782-4449.

Graffixx has been performing for more than 10 years. Hussey started the group. Originally from Canada, after many years, she became a U.S. citizen. She travels in central and southern Maine as a phlebotomist.

Myrand comes from a musical family, having learned to play guitar and emulating her father, who sang with a group many years ago. She is a realtor with Coldwell Banker Millett Realty.

Bourgoin sang at family gatherings, beginning with French songs and, as an adult, she sang with the Magic Pops Chorus. She is employed by TD Banknorth and the Sun Journal.

Graffixx performed at Lewiston’s Festival de Joie, Liberty Festival at Nick’s Café, local private clubs such as the United Members, American Legions of Lisbon, Auburn, New Gloucester, the Knights of Columbus and many functions at the Lewiston Elks. They were the opening act for Herb Reed and the Platters and have performed at the Poland Spring Resort.
