LEWISTON – The Central Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program will host its spring Wilderness Medicine Conference on Tuesday, April 17.

The event will feature four experts in wilderness medicine who will discuss an aspect of providing emergency care in an outdoor setting. The program will be held in the Chairmen’s Rooms on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building, adjacent to CMMC.

The events will begin at 1 p.m. with a presentation by maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Martha Lawrence, who will discuss “Dental Emergencies in Remote Settings.”

At 2 p.m., Dr. Kirk Silver, a third-year resident with the CMMC Family Medicine Residency Program, will lead a session on “Hypothermia: Real-Life Video Footage and Discussion.”

CMMC emergency physician Dr. Tim Coury will talk about “Orthopedic Injuries in the Outdoors” beginning at 3 p.m.

At 4 p.m., Paul Marcolini, manager of Central Maine Medical Center Connect, a regional referral and scheduling center, will present “Search and Rescue on Denali, North America’s Highest Peak.”
