OTISFIELD – The Western Maine chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will host a 4-hour chain saw safety training session beginning at 9 a.m. April 21, at Rich and Beth Merk’s farm.

Michael Maines of Maines Tree Works will offer the program that will include chain saw safety features, saw handling tips, a discussion of personal protective equipment and a tree felling demonstration. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions. There is a $10 per person fee for the program payable April 21.

The Merk’s Applewood Farm is located on Forrest Edwards Road in Otisfield, which is off Powhatan Road, off Route 121. Forrest Edwards Road is south of the Otisfield Elementary School. From the Casco end of Route 121, follow Mayberry Hill to Powhatan Road to Forrest Edwards Road. SWOAM signs will be posted.
