LEWISTON – Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District is planning to work with the residents of Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties as a part of “Conservation’s Power.”
Androscoggin Valley SWCD Office Manager Jane Heikkinen said, “The snow on the ground defies the fact that this is spring. However, now is the time to start implementing spring conservation plans. The annual celebration of Stewardship Week, April 29 to May 6, 2007, has been proclaimed by the National Association of Conservation Districts. Everyone has the personal responsibility to be a good steward of natural resources if they want the next generation to have healthy, sustainable natural resources available.”

Heikkinen said, “The citizens of Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties can again enjoy coming to the district for an annual native conservation plant sale. This year’s list is available at our Web site. For a copy to be mailed to you, call Jane Heikkinen at 753-9400, ext. 400. The pick-up date will be June 23 here at the USDA Service Center on 254 Goddard Road in Lewiston.”
