AUBURN – The Woman’s Literary Union, 19 Elm St., will hold its annual Mother/Daughter Doll Tea from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday April 28, at the clubhouse.

Greeting at the door will be the butler of the afternoon, Robert Allen. Dorothy Darling Gatchell, retired teacher and local storyteller, will tell stories at 1:15, 2:15 and 3:15. “Rapunzel” will be one of the characters in her stories.

The event is not limited to mothers and daughters, but grandmothers/granddaughters, aunts/nieces and friends as well. In the past some of the young girls have arrived in corresponding outfits as their favorite dolls.

Among the many dolls on display will be bride dolls, Disney dolls, ethnic dolls and storybook dolls.

Also on display will be a dollhouse that is complete in every detail, including a tiny toothbrush, toothpaste and a bar of soap in the bathroom. In the attic are the inevitable mice nibbling on cheese. The owner and creator of this dollhouse is Melanie Ness, a local artist.

The library will feature a doll boutique with handmade doll items, such as clothing, scarves, hats, quilts and blankets and accessories for sale.

Refreshments will consist of dainty pastries, tea and punch. Admission is $6 for adults and $2 for each child. Reservations are not required.
