CARTHAGE – New England Celtic Arts will host the Dave Rowe Trio Thursday, May 17, at The Skye Theater.

Rowe, fiddler Edward Howe and bassist Kevin O’Reilly made their debut St. Patrick’s Day 2004 at the Blaine House at the request of Gov. John Baldacci. They completed a CD of mostly Celtic titles that spring and released it at events in Sykesville, Md., and in Portland.

In October of 2004, the trio made its first appearance at the Fryeburg Fair and were so well liked they were rebooked for 2005 on the spot. The three musicians released a new CD of maritime music, “Rolling Home,” in the summer of 2005, and have been recording and giving concerts ever since.

Audience members are encouraged to bring their instruments so they can join in a 20-minute preshow fiddle jam. Ed Howe will do the honors starting at 6:30. The show will follow at 7.

Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2. Tickets are $10 at the door. Call New England Celtic Arts at 562-4445 for reservations. For more information, log on to www.necelticarts.com.
