Trackers sale
NORWAY – The annual yard sale benefiting the Oxford Hills Trackers will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 24, 25 and 26, at the Progress Center, 35 Cottage St.
The Oxford Hills Trackers, a Special Olympics team from the Progress Center, are raising money to support their activities. The Trackers are in training for the state summer games June 7 through 10 at the University of Maine in Orono. Events are designed to match each individual’s skill level and abilities.
Those who have items to donate to the sale or want more information should call the Progress Center at 743-8049.
Rescue breakfast
STONEHAM – Stoneham Rescue’s annual Memorial Day breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Monday, May 28. The menu will include plain or blueberry pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee, juice, tea or hot chocolate. Cost is $5 a person; $2.50 for children 12 and under.
Songo cruise
NAPLES – On Saturday June 16, the Resistance Ministries, a nonprofit youth ministry, will have a Chinese auction aboard the Songo River Queen II to raise money to buy toys for the “A Christmas to Remember” outreach event for disadvantaged children in crisis and their families.
The ministry has made is possible to receive a free cruise ticket to give to a friend with every ticket purchased at $25, which admits people to the cruise and gives them 125 auction tickets. The first 25 people who purchase tickets also get a free $7 meal ticket for the cruise.
There is only space for 100 people on the cruise and tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis. The cruise will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature a dollar table, grab bags and food. For tickets or for more information, call 743-6982.
Chapel opening
RAYMOND – The East Raymond Chapel, 394 Webbs Mill Road, will be open once again for the summer season starting Sunday, June 3, at 8:30 a.m. Services will continue through Labor Day weekend.
The historical chapel was built in 1890 and is on the national historical list to be preserved with its pink walls, purple color-block windows and original oak altar furniture and pews.
The services are simple and light – with special music offered every Sunday and hymns played on the piano or the old pump organ. The friends and members of the chapel offer coffee and refreshments after each Sunday service. All are welcome.
There will also be a special open house from 2 to 4 p.m. June 3, with refreshments and the pump organ played for background music. The Rev. Joyce A. Long is pastor.
Bingo fundraiser
PARIS – A cow pie bingo will be held beginning at noon Saturday, June 16, at Young’s Greenhouse, High Street. It is a fundraiser being held by Sarah Burnham, a student at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, to raise money for a People to People Student Ambassador trip to Australia.
