NORWAY – The Norway Business Association has selected Bobby Walker, selectman and former voice of Oxford Plains Speedway, to be the grand marshal of their Pop Goes the Fourth parade scheduled for Saturday, June 30.

The theme of the parade is “Show Your Colors” and it is open to all. Treats will be given to all participating children.

Walker, disabled as the result of a stroke, is best known as the announcer at Oxford Plains Speedway for many years. For the past several years he has been a selectman for the town of Norway.

As well as the parade starting at 2 p.m., the annual Norway Business Association auction will take place at 5 p.m. in the Pike’s parking lot followed by a street dance. A children’s activity center will also be located at the parking lot throughout the afternoon. A “Things on Wheels” inspection and a dolly clinic will be available following the parade.

Several stores along Main Street will be having some big promotions as well as a “Pop A Balloon” special.

The Norway Business Association is working on some other possible surprises, which may include a Jailbird Jamboree.
