LEWISTON – High school rock bands will battle it out Saturday, July 21, in Lewiston Middle School’s auditorium at a fundraiser for Calli Ann Robichaud, who has cerebral palsy. Only eight bands will be able to play. The deadline for entry is July 7, with a $50 entry fee per band. First- and second-place cash prizes will be awarded.
Guest band Sparks the Rescue will perform after the battle of the bands, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Cost is $8 at the door.
Calli, who will be 14 in August, will attend Lewiston High School this fall. She was born 16 weeks prematurely and is also legally blind. She has no head or trunk control, suffers from seizure disorders and is fed through a tube.
Her grandmother, Claudette Aube, died this past January, and her parents, Tina and Tony Robichaud, have purchased Tina’s mother’s house to help Calli with her special needs as she gets older. For example, she needs a full bathroom in her bedroom with a ceiling tracking lift and outdoor ramps. The benefit concert will help defray these expenses.
As Calli grows, she is getting heavier for nurses and her parents to lift out of bed, into the shower and into a wheel chair.
