LEWISTON – Hammond Lumber held off Dube Gravel, 6-4, in semifinal playoff action in South Lewiston Little League.

Alec Collins and Devin Beland were big bats for Hammond. Willy Desmaris was the hefty hitter for Dube.

Gendron’s Mobile downed Aroostook in the second contest. Gendron’s and Hammond will face off for the championship at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the South Lewiston complex on Martin Drive.

ASLL Majors: Pepsi downs East Auburn

AUBURN – Johnny Caiani and Mitch LaChapelle combined on a five-hitter and 11 strikeouts to help Pepsi protect an 8-7 win over East Auburn in the Auburn Suburban Little League Major division over the weekend.

Caiani and Elijah Moreshead were repeat hitters for Pepsi. Llewellyn Jensen, Seth Sterling and Nick Rock took the hill for East Auburn, allowing seven hits and striking out 12. Rock was East Auburn’s lone repeat hitter.

South Paris to host state Cal Ripken tourney

SOUTH PARIS – Andy Valley Cal Ripken League is pleased to announce that it will host this year’s 12-and-under Cal Ripken state tournament.

The double-elimination draw runs from July 7-12 at Dennis Rugg Complex on Kilgore Road, just off Oxford Street. All games will be played on Constitution Field.

Cal Ripken League is a 12-and-under division of the Babe Ruth League and is comparable to Little League. Cal Ripken League was formerly named Bambino League and has provided competitive baseball for area youth for the past 25 years.

As host site, the local league has an automatic seed in the state tournament. The West division from Andy Valley will be that team.

Andy Valley West is comprised of players from Bethel, Woodstock, West Paris, Buckfield, South Paris and Norway.

The state champion will earn the right to compete in the New England Regional Tournament in Winchester, Mass.

Anyone interested in volunteering at the tournament or wanting more information should contact Joe Trybus at 890-1437.

Sunday, July 8: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 10 a.m.; Loser Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4, 12:30 p.m.; Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 3 p.m.; Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4, 5:30 p.m.

Monday, July 9: Loser Game 8 vs. Winner Game 5, 3:30 p.m.; Loser Game 7 vs. Winner Game 6, 6 p.m.

Tuesday, July 10: Winner Game 9 vs. Winner Game 10, 3:30 p.m.; Winner Game 7 vs. Winner Game 8, 6 p.m.
