FARMINGTON – The American Red Cross is urging eligible blood donors to give blood before the Fourth of July holiday when blood shortages are likely to occur.

The Red Cross will hold a Red Sox Nation blood drive at Franklin Memorial Hospital from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 2. All blood donors will receive a free limited edition Red Sox Nation t-shirt and will be eligible to win two tickets to a Boston Red Sox game.

Donors may safely give blood through the Red Cross every eight weeks. Eligible donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds or more, and be in good health.
