WEST PARIS – About 50 voters at Thursday’s special town meeting elected Randy Jones as a selectman, replacing Chairman Bill Birney, who has resigned.
Jones topped Joan Cannuli, 34-11, to claim the seat.
Birney announced his resignation in a letter to Town Manager John White and his board colleagues earlier this month. He is relocating out of the area.
Birney was in his second three-year term.
Jones will serve out the remainder of Birney’s term, through March 2010.
Jones joins Wade Rainey and Dennis Henderson on the board.
