Auburn Suburban Little League’s Major Softball All-Stars are heading for the state tourney. Lewiston’s Elliot Major Baseball All-Stars are within 2 wins of the state tournament. And Elliot’s Senior baseballers have grabbed a 1-0 lead over Auburn Suburban in their best-of-3 series.

Auburn’s softballers beat South Lewiston twice in District action to gain a spot in the state tourney to start on July 20 at Rockport. Alexis Leclerc and Ashley Arnold both went 3-3 as Auburn beat Lewiston in game 1. Kennedy Hubbard made a fine defensive play at second base. Paige Young had a hit for Lewiston. Winning hurler Arnold struck out 9.

ASLL adanced to the states by taking the second game as Hannah Delong went 4-4. Breanna Bray, Kelsey Butcher and Kennedy Hubbard added 3 hits each. Miranda Casey was the winning pitcher.

Art Butcher is the manager of the Distridct 5 champs. Shon Collins is the coach.

Elliot’s Major All-Stars will take on Gardiner today at 5:30 at Auburn Suburban, needing 2 wins to claim the District title. The “if” game is scheduled at the same place on Tuesday.

Elliot defeated South Lewiston 15-1 at Gardiner Saturday in semifinal action. Sam Morin hurled a 3-hitter, allowing only 6 runners. South Lewiston hitters were Devon Beland, a bunt single, Steve Labrecque a double, and Cam Marquis, a homer to account for the lone run. Eddie Emerson and Morin both clouted their first career home run. Emerson’s was a 3-run shot. Repeat hitters were Luke Cote, Emerson and Matt Poto, while Eric Soucy swatted a double.

In District 5 Senior Baseball action (13-14), Elliot beat Auburn Suburban 3-1 as Joe Sullivan pitched 5-plus strong innings. Mekae Hyde hurled the final frames. Scott Ouellette had the winning hit, a 2-run double. Cody Dussault also had a run-scoring single. Matt Gordon pitched for Auburn. He cracked 2 hits. Game 2 is set for tonight at 5:30 at Elliot. Game 3 is slated for Wednesday at 5:30 at ASLL, if necessary.
