AUBURN – Elliot of Lewiston split its first 2 games in the State Little League Major Division Baseball Tournament being waged at Auburn Suburban LL.

Elliot opened with a 2-1 loss to Lincoln of Damariscotta. Elliot’s lone run came on a homer by Sam Morin, who pitched the first 4 innings, allowing 2 runs. Jake Bergeron pitched 2 innings of strong relief. Lincoln’s Nate Baptist tossed a no-hitter through 4 innings, striking out 10.

Sunday, Elliot trimmed Arcadian of Bar Harbor 6-1 as Luke Cote hurled a complete game, allowing 1 run and fanning 6. Cote and Eddie Emerson both ripped doubles. Jordan Charest, Matt Bouchard and Morin all belted 2 hits. Ben Walls was a repeat hitter for Bar Harbor.

Elliot 11-year-olds win

LEWISTON -Elliot’s 11-year-old All-Stars captured the District 5 championship Friday, knocking off Augusta 16-9.

Tom Hird pitched 4 solid innings and Coleman Morency hurled the final 2. Alex Small had a great game behind the plate. Repeat hitters for Elliot were Hird, Ethan Melvin, Evan Bourassa, Morency and Peter Tirabassi. Kevin Kinsbury and Charlie Hallak each had 2 hits for Augusta.

Elliot will start the State Tournament Saturday, July 28 at the Saco Little League complex at 12:30 against District 2.
