WINTHROP – The Auburn White Sox defeated the Red Sox 8-2 Sunday in the Central Maine Men’s Senior Basetball League.

Marc Gosselin pitched 3 innings in relief of Sean Cheetham to gain the win, while Torey Carr went the first 7 for the Red Sox, taking the loss.

Dan Coleman tripled and scored on a wild pitch, and Jim Wacenske had an RBI ground out as the White Sox took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth. The Red Sox tied it in the bottom of the frame as Matt Richardson had an RBI fielder’s choice, and Brent Withell scored on a double steal.

The White Sox tallied 3 in the seventh as Mike Hlister and Jamie Lobb both had an RBI hit, and a third run scored on an error.

The White Sox put the game away by scoring 3 more in the eighth. Gosselin had an RBI hit, Mike Brennan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and the third run came on a bases-loaded walk to Wacenske who was the game’s only repeat hitter.

Outlaws Roll

The Great Falls Outlaws (5-4) defeated the Boothbay Dodgers 13-2 Sunday at Wiscasset High School. The Outlaws pounded out 21 hits, including 6 doubles and a triple, spread out among 9 of the 10 hitters.

Greg Massey led the charge with a 4-hit day, that included the 3-bagger. He scored 4 runs from the leadoff spot. Dave Coburn went 3-5, with 2 doubles and 2 RBI; Chris Reed and Craig Farrington also went 3-5, Reed with 2 doubles and Farrington with 3 RBI.

Contributing 2 hits each were Rod Bates, Randy Marcum and Roland Berube. The Outlaws will take on their rival, the Auburn White Sox Sunday in Auburn.
