MONMOUTH – Justin Denbow pitched a two-hit masterpiece, and David Ricker belted a three-run homer as Monmouth ran away with a 7-1 win over Madison in the Zone II championship game.

Denbow hurled 78 pitches over eight innings, fanned six and allowed his first earned run in 37 innings pitched this season. Travis Harwood came on in the ninth and set Madison down in order to seal the win.

Ricker’s home run capped a six-run third inning for Monmouth, which finished unbeaten on the season at 23-0. Ricker, Ethan Guerette, Tavis Hasenfus and Mike Eaton combined for eight of Monmouth’s 10 hits.

Brad Beauregard and Matt Hisler each had one hit for Maidson (16-7).
