On Sunday, Aug. 12, poetry lovers will gather at 6 p.m. at the Ecopelagicon Nature Store in Rangeley to honor poet Hugh Ogden (above, with his dog, Buttercup), who died this past winter after falling through the ice of Rangeley Lake. His children, Cynthia, Kathy and David, will begin the evening by reading poems written by their father. Community members are invited to listen and to participate by reading a poem by Ogden. In addition, writers may sign up to read one of their own poems inspired by what meant so much to Ogden – the beauty and mystery of the world and especially Rangeley. Ogden loved to read his poetry aloud. He published a CD and tape of his poems, and initiated several poetry radio programs. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
