As summer draws to an end, so, too, does L/A Arts’ Music in the Parks series of free concerts. The season will conclude with Auburn’s own steel drum band Tinpanic playing Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Auburn Riverwatch. The concert will begin at noon, rain or shine (please observe parking signs). As part of the end-of-summer celebration, the Hilton will have a cook-out style lunch, available for purchase.

Tinpanic was formed in 2002 by a group of people from the Lewiston-Auburn area who share a love for the lively steel band sound. Beginning on rented “pans,” they soon knew that this band was here to stay and the group purchased a set of pans.

Thirteen members strong, the energetic group plays at outdoor festivals and concerts, wedding receptions, the New England Pan Festival, sailing regattas and fundraisers.

Caribbean dress is optional. If it rains, the concert will be held, same time and date, inside the Hilton.
