AUBURN – Local artists have donated their work to the Androscoggin Habitat for Humanity Art Auction Gala on Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch.
Tara Allain, Miss Maine 2007, who has made Habitat for Humanity her prime focus during her year of reign, will open the auction at 7:30 p.m. with a pounding of the auctioneer’s gavel.
Those who have donated are David Footer, Gloria Limoges, Joyce Coyne, Paul Belisle, Marge DiRenzo, Dot Violette, Judy Schaub, Mary Godin, Michael Boisvert, Samantha Green, Judy Giffin, Stan Young, Suzanne Biddle and David Mireault.
Available for bidding, in addition to the local artists’ works, will be a large selection of art treasures from national and international artists, as well as music and sports memorabilia.
A 6:30 p.m. social and preview hour will be held, during which “Music by Magic” will play old favorites from the 1930s through 1980s. Refreshments will be available.
Peter van Oosten and Dick Dubois are chairing the event. Working on preparations are Vyonne Spaar, Habitat art coordinator; Karen Finley, ticket sales; Donna Pierson, data base and mailing; Nancy Bard, mail and financial institutes liaison; and Rachel Morin, event promotion.
The public is invited. For tickets, call 225-3009 or 786-2598.
All proceeds will benefit the Habitat housing construction. The 14th house on Golder Street is nearing completion.
