Homemakers

PERU – The Peru Extension Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Peru Baptist Church. Members should bring a bag lunch and the following items: a favorite apple recipe, two apples to make applesauce, yearly dues, thread and needle and decorations to sew on the Christmas stocking and an item for show and tell. Brenda Calden has the mystery. New members are invited.

Wellness lunch

RUMFORD – A workplace wellness luncheon for community leaders will be held from 11 am. to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the River Valley Technology Center, sponsored by the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition.

A representative from the Maine Cardiovascular Health Program will be the speaker for a luncheon catered by local farmers with locally grown foods. Several local businesses will talk about the changes they have made in their businesses and give tips on how to put a wellness program together.

The luncheon is free, but those who want to attend should call Carol Emery at the RVHCC at 364-7408 by Oct. 22.

Auction planned

PARIS – The Oxford County 4-H program will hold the annual Take-A-Chance auction on Friday, Nov. 30, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street.

Once again volunteer leaders and 4-H members will ask businesses for their support of 4-H in Oxford County. Money raised will be used to support county programs, which help members learn leadership, career exploration, self-esteem and other important life skills.

Those who would like to support the youth in Oxford County should call the Oxford County Extension Office at 743-6329 or 1-800-287-1482. Individuals are welcome to donate items. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the drawing starting at 7 p.m.
