NEW YORK – Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz has been named to the 2007 American League Silver Slugger Team.
Ortiz was selected as the designated hitter for the fourth consecutive year after batting .332 with 35 homers and 117 RBIs in 149 games.
He led the major leagues with a .445 on-base percentage and topped the American League with 88 extra base hits and 111 walks.
The Silver Sluggers are presented by Louisville Slugger to the best offensive players at their position in each league. Managers and coaches vote for the awards.
Alex Rodriguez won his ninth Silver Slugger after leading the majors with 54 home runs and 156 RBIs for the New York Yankees.
