The Lewiston Demons won their third consecutive game and remained in first place in the Northern Middle School Hockey League with a 2-1 victory over Fairfield on Sunday.
The goaltending duo of Noah Hutchinson and Brady Ouellette kept the game close. Trailing by a goal, David Cusson started the Lewiston comeback with an unassisted tally late in the second period. Devin Bilodeau later scored the game winner for the Demons on a feed from Tommy Hird. Fairfield’s goaltender Kyle McLain was outstanding, stopping a number of scoring chances by Chris Rancourt, Alex Gregoire, Jacob Soucy, and Tanner Hubbard. Brett Valle, Tommy Hird, and Marty Moreau played well on defense down the stretch to help preserve the victory.
Jr. Maineiacs drop Gardiner
The Junior Maineiacs Squirt White team improved its record to 8-2-1 with a 3-2 victory over Gardiner. Owen McCarthy and Andrew Loisel each had a goal and an assist for the Maineiacs. Liam Benson netted the other with an assist from Corinne Laberge. Nick Hawk continued his stellar play in net to earn the win. Cedrek Washington and Chad Prince scored for Gardiner. The Gardiner netminder was almost equal to the task, making several key saves to keep his team in the game.
