WALES – Bronson Drewry torched the nets for a game-high 24 points, including five 3-pointers, and pulled down 10 rebounds as Oak Hill overcame a 13-point first-half deficit with a 59-57 KVAC victory over Gardiner.

The Raiders (2-4) closed the gap to four at halftime and outscored the Tigers 21-14 in the pivotal third quarter.

Tim Levesque kept the Raiders rolling, scoring nine of his 16 points in the fourth quarter. He hit two foul shots with 20 seconds remaining to put the Raiders up by four, sealing the win.

Mike Denham led the Tigers (4-2) with 19 points, while Mike Lavallee hit for 14 and Jake Wright chipped in with 11.

Mt. Blue 74, Leavitt 42

TURNER – Junior guards Jamie Sawyer and Ben Russell burned up the nets with 23 and 22 points, respectively, as Mt. Blue pounced to a 74-42 victory over Leavitt in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.

The Cougars (3-3) jumped out to a 38-21 lead at the half.

Junior forward Doug Nash led the Hornets (0-6) with 13 points, while junior guard Kolin Gauthier contributed 11 points.

Georges Valley 61, Telstar 49

BETHEL – Georges Valley erupted for 47 points in the middle two frames, then coasted in the final quarter for a 61-49 victory over Telstar.

It was a 9-3 game after one quarter, before the Buccaneers seized control and outscored the Rebels by 22 points during the next 16 minutes. Telstar (1-3) made a 21-5 run in the final quarter to make it respectable.

Trevor Wilson led Georges Valley with 15 points, and Brandon Staples added 13. Dan Vaughn scored 12 points and Ryan Hannigan 10 for Telstar.

Skowhegan 69, Oxford Hills 60

SOUTH PARIS – Junior guard Eric Thislte drained 19 of his shared 21 game-high points in the second half to lift Skowhegan to a 69-60 victory over Oxford Hills in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.

Sophomore center Jordan Taylor also scored 21 points for the Indians (3-3). Thistle tallied four field goals, all from 3-point range, and collected nine from the charity stripe to account for his 21 points.

Senior guard Thomas McGee scored a team-high 20 points for the Vikings (2-4), while junior center Jordan Farrar tossed 12 points, and junior guard Josh Childs added 10 points.

Dirigo 66, Friends Seminary 54

ORLANDO, Fla. – Colby Knapp drained 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds and was flawless from the line in eight attempts as Dirigo downed Friends Seminary, of New York, 66-54 in a KSA Orlando Holiday Shootout semifinal game Friday.

The Cougars jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Thomas Knight poured in 17 points to compliment his 11 rebounds and five assists, and Erik Kersey added eight points.

Nathan Karnovsky led Friends Seminary with 20 points.

With the win, the Cougars earn a spot in Saturday’s championship game against Bishop Mora Salesian High School from Los Angeles.

Girls’ basketball

Mt. Blue 51, Leavitt 45

FARMINGTON – Senior forward Amelia Allen tossed a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds to lead Mt. Blue to a 51-45 victory over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ basketball action.

Senior guard Michelle Oswald contributed 13 points and two assists, while senior forward Meaghan Robinson added 11 points and seven rebounds in a balanced attack for the Cougars (1-5).

Paige Dyer notched a game-high 17 points for the Hornets (0-6), while Courtney Andersen scored 14 points.

Gardiner 64, Oak Hill 47

GARDINER – Victoria Lovely drained 14 points to lead Gardiner to a 64-47 victory over Oak Hill in a balanced attack in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.

Lovely nailed four 3-pointers in a 33-point second quarter for the Tigers (6-0). Genny Garwood contributed 11 points as Gardiner took a 46-14 first-half lead.

Freshman forward Maggie Sabine had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Senior forward Emily Sabine and junior guard Ambyr Provost scored eight points apiece. The Raiders (1-5) picked up the pace in the final quarter, outscoring the Tigers 19-4.

Lawrence 77, Lewiston 28

FAIRFIELD – Brogan Liberty nearly matched Lewiston’s total offense with 22 points in a 77-28 victory by Lawrence.

The Bulldogs dominated early, building leads of 21-10, 42-15 and 64-17 at the quarter breaks.

Amber Cloutier led Lewiston (0-6) with eight points, and Ashlee Labonte added seven.

Hockey

St. Dom’s 4, North Haven, Conn., 3

FREEPORT – Junior forward Casey Parker scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner as St. Dom’s clipped North Haven, Conn., 4-3 in the 2007 Maine High School Hockey Invitational.

Cody Mercier netted a game-tying goal for the Indians at the 14:37 mark of the third period, but Parker converted a relay from junior forward Richard Paradis six seconds later for the game-winner.

Goalie Mike Pellegrino made 19 saves for North Haven, while Williams Emerson and Maxwell Wiley shared keeper duties for the Saints with 30 saves.

South Windsor, Conn., 4, Lewiston 1

PORTLAND – Senior center Matt Siracusa netted a hat trick to lift South Windsor to a 4-1 victory over Lewiston in hockey action Friday.

The uinbeaten Bobcats came out strong and fast in the first period as Siracusa scored two of the team’s three goals. Following the first period, the Blue Devils regrouped, applied pressure and protected against South Windsor’s offense.

Senior wing Casey Poussard scored an unassisted tally at the 6:51 mark of the second period for Lewiston’s lone goal.
