JAY – Hillary Deane and Mallory Bonnevie combined for 17 first-half points, while Livermore Falls was limited to a total of 10 in the half as Jay coasted to a 51-40 girls’ basketball victory Friday.
The Tigers (6-4) opened a 32-10 halftime lead and extended it to 45-20 after three quarters before the Andies (2-8) closed the gap in the final eight minutes against Jay’s reserves.
Deane finished with 13 points, while Bonnevie added 11 points and eight steals, and Morgan Turner had 10 points, including three 3-pointers. Esther Bizier led Livermore Falls with 15 points.
Gould 34, Hebron 33
HEBRON – Chelsea O’Brien scored 20 points to lead Gould Academy to a 34-33 overtime victory over Hebron.
Annie Hart scored 17 points to lead Hebron (5-2). The Lumberjacks were only 3 of 14 from the foul line.
Mountain Valley 61, Telstar 48
BETHEL – Taylor Smith’s game-high 18 points solidified Mountain Valley’s 61-48 win over Telstar on Friday.
Lauren Lepage added 14 points in the win for the Falcons (5-2).
Bailey Davis netted a team-high 16 points for the Rebels (4-3), including three 3-pointers.
St. Doms 57, Poland 50
POLAND – Kelsey Murphy poured in 21 points, six from beyond the arc, as St. Doms beat Poland 57-50, on Friday evening.
The Saints (5-5) got 17 of their points from Allaina Murphy, and Catherine Joseph chipped in with 13 of her own.
Krystal Malpass put up 16 for the Knights (3-7), and Paige Piper added nine points.
Georges Valley 46, Hall-Dale 41
THOMASTON – Kayla Wood recorded a game-high 17 points and grabbed six boards in Georges Valley’s 46-41 victory over Hall-Dale, but the night belonged to 6-foot-2 senior center Ashley Geel.
Geel dominated for the Buccaneers (6-4) with 17 rebounds, seven assists, six blocks and two steals to go along with 12 points.
Erica Brann netted 13 points for the Bulldogs (4-4), and Amy Skillings, Britta Olsen and Ariel Howes each put up eight points.
Men’s hockey
Bowdoin 7, NEC 5
BRUNSWICK – Mike Corbelle’s fifth goal of the season halfway through the third period proved to be the game-winner as Bowdoin defeated New England College 7-5 in front of 903 fans at Dayton Arena on Friday.
Mike Westerman, Will Reycraft and Jeff Fanning picked up a goal and an assist each for the Polar Bears (8-2-0), and Steven Thompson earned three assists.
Alex Muse notched two goals for the Pilgrims (7-2-1), and Trevor Turner had a two-point night with a goal and assist.
The Polar Bears took advantage of their power-play opportunities, going 2-for-2 on the extra man advantage. NEC only managed one goal on four chances.
Trinity 3, USM 1
GORHAM – Trinity knocked Southern Maine from the ranks of unbeaten college hockey teams Friday with a 3-1 victory.
Defenseman Ross Grubin scored the game-winner at 7:19 of the final period to snap a 1-1 deadlock. Naoto Hamashima added an empty-netter to seal the win.
Jon Rutt scored the lone goal for the Huskies (10-1-1), while Jamie Gilbert recorded 35 saves.
