RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine will hold a Free Ski Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24.

Along with free lift tickets for skiing or snowboarding, free half-hour beginner lessons will be available and the Edge tubing park will be open with special $10 a person pricing. Limited ski and snowboard rentals will be available for $15. Anyone under 18 wishing to rent equipment or go tubing must have rental forms or tubing waivers signed by a responsible adult.

The kitchen will be open until 8:30 p.m. and the Last Run Lounge will be open until 10 p.m. For more information, and to download rental forms and tubing waivers to fill out before arriving, visit www.skiblackmountain.org or call the lodge at 364-8977.

Over the next several weeks Black Mountain seven alpine races that are in need of volunteer help as follows:

Mountain Valley Invitational, 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1; MVC Giant Slalom, 9 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 7; MVC Slalom, 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.

Also, Class A State Meet Giant Slalom, 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb 19; Class A State Meet Slalom, 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20; Maine High School Selection Race, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1; and MARA J4 and J5 Open Giant Slalom, 10 a.m. Sunday, March 2.
