MARLBOROUGH, Conn. (AP) – State police say a 10-year-old boy and an adult remain hospitalized with burns they suffered in a backyard explosion.
Police say 44-year-old Mike Hyde was burning wood behind his Chapman Road property with help from the boy when the incident occurred Friday afternoon.
The child’s name wasn’t released Saturday because of his age.
Authorities believe one of the victims threw gasoline on the fire, which flamed up and burned them. The boy was burned over 45 percent of his body.
Police and fire officials are still investigating the incident, and both victims remained hospitalized Saturday at Westchester Medical Center in Westchester, N.Y.
