Dear Sun Spots: Could you give me the address of Lara Spencer on “The Insider?” What happened to Pat O’Brien on The Insider? Thank you. – Peggy, Norway

Answer: Sun Spots recommends contacting Lara Spencer through CBS Television, which distributes the show. Write to: Lara Spencer/The Insider, c/o CBS Television Distribution, 2401 Colorado Ave, Suite 110, Santa Monica, CA 90404. According to “The Insider” Web site, Lara Spencer has been co-anchor of “The Insider” since its inception in fall 2004. “The Insider” reports on the world of celebrity from a unique “insider” perspective, using first-person interviews, special “inside” access, “behind-closed-door” reports and “inside information” from knowledgeable sources and contacts. Spencer has covered numerous high-profile stories and red carpet moments for “The Insider.” In 2007, she interviewed many newsmakers and celebrities from Hillary Clinton, Gayle King, Eddie Murphy and Leonardo DiCaprio to Joey Buttafuoco and Amy Fisher. In November 2006, Spencer traveled to Rome to cover all the details of the highly anticipated wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. In addition, Spencer has interviewed many of the industry’s biggest stars, including Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank, “Desperate Housewives” star Teri Hatcher and the new James Bond, Daniel Craig.

Spencer began her broadcasting career at WDEF-TV in Chattanooga, Tenn., before moving to News 12 in Long Island, N.Y. From 1995 to 1999, Spencer was a lifestyle reporter for WABC-TV’s “Eyewitness News” in New York City. She moved to a national stage in 1999, when she joined “Good Morning America” as a national correspondent. During her tenure there, she was the head reporter on the Emmy-nominated “GMA” series, “50 States in 50 Weeks: In Search of America,” which featured Spencer exploring the diversity of the states on a road trip across America. In 2003, Spencer signed on as a correspondent for the most-watched series on PBS, “Antiques Roadshow.” She hosted the show from 2004-05, while pulling double duty as co-anchor of “The Insider.”

As for your question regarding Pat O’Brien, according to a statement posted on “The Insider” Web site, he “has entered a rehabilitation facility for treatment. O’Brien and his doctors felt this is the best course for maintaining his sobriety.” His temporary replacement is Donny Osmond. There was no date given for Pat O’Brien’s return to the show.
