LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program series at USM/Lewiston-Auburn on Friday, May 9, will feature a presentation by former educator Hugh Keene on “The Nature of Scientific Thought.”
Based on a course for honor students, Keene’s topic will link physics and literature with the history of science and literature in Western civilization, and will emphasize how literature reflected advancements in the world of science.
Keene was chairman of the science department and taught physics at Edward Little High School for 25 years. He was also director of drama for the school and produced more than 65 plays and musicals. Keene is a member of the Senior College board of directors and a frequent course presenter.
The luncheon program will be held at noon in Function Room 170 at USM/L-A. The cost, which includes lunch, is $6.50 with advance reservation or $8 at the door, opening at 11:30 a.m. Reservations must be made no later than noon Thursday, May 8, by phone at 753-6510 or online at usm.maine.edu/lac/senior college. Any late callers will be considered as “at the door.”
