After making a splash in the KVAC Championships last winter, the Lewiston High School swim teams are looking for a new coach.

Becky Angelides has resigned after two years with the program. The position is currently posted and a search for a replacement will begin in the coming weeks.

“Becky, at the end of the year, talked to me and chose to step away,” said Jason Fuller, the Lewiston athletic director. “There’s not much more to it than that. It was just her decision to resign.”

Angelides was unavailable for comment Thursday. Fuller said Angelides stated her decision was based on family and other committments.

Angelides coached the swim team for two years. The boys won the KVAC championship last winter while the girls finished second.

“I appreciate the two years,” said Fuller. “I think the program in the swimming pools did a great job. Obviously, this year was a tremendous year for us. Winning the KVAC boys’ and the girls’ have been very successful as well. She did a good job in the pool, and I appreciate the time she could give us.”

Fuller said he hopes to have candidates for the opening soon in order to make a quick hire for the position.

“I have a number of jobs open,” said Fuller. “Hopefully in the next couple weeks we can get an applicant pool together and narrow it down and set up some interviews. Hopefully, we can get it taken care of as soon as possible like any other position.”
