WEST PARIS – After further discussion about a new town office telephone system Thursday, selectmen tabled the issue for more study.
Town Manager John White said four quotes for a system have been received, ranging from $1,491 to $3,305, but selectmen want more options.
“Our current phone setup is old and really not a true system,” White said. “There can be confusing cross-calls between lines and (there) is no answering service. We need to update our phones and take advantage of today’s technology.”
Selectmen also approved an ordinance to post roads to weight limits of 23,000 pounds during mud season. Approval came after a public hearing.
Posting has gone on for years during the spring to minimize damage caused by heavy vehicles. Having an official ordinance puts teeth in the posting.
Emergency vehicles, fuel delivery trucks and utility vehicles are exempt from the posting.
