AUBURN – Dr. Behzad Fakhery was named Temple Shalom Synagogue’s Person of the Year at the Auburn synagogue’s recent annual meeting. Fakhery was honored for his many years of service to the Lewiston-Auburn Jewish community.

Among other contributions, Fakhery has been the most consistent of any member in attendance at prayer services. He has helped lead such services when called upon, including chanting from the Torah and from the Prophets, and he has served on the synagogue’s Ritual Committee.Fakhery recently retired from his active surgical practice in Lewiston. He lives in Auburn with his wife, Harriett.
