TURNER – The ASA-sanctioned AK Softball League tournament in the 12-and-up division will be held this weekend, July 11-13, at Boofy Quimby ball fields.

Leeds, Greene, Sabattus and Turner teams will participate in the season-ending, double-elimination event.

The traditional first pitch will be thrown at 6 p.m. Friday. All-star teams for Sunday’s game also will be announced. Dave Ingerson and Marc Pare will be the presiding umpires.

Host event director Jennifer Simmons and a hard-working crew of Turner Athletic Association volunteers will run the barbecue concession, along with a full-service snack shack, snow cones and breakfast items on Saturday.

Proceeds from the concession benefit local youth sports.

Tournament play should wrap up around 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by a ribbon and trophy presentation with AK Softball League president Cynthia Veilleux.

Sunday’s all-star game will start at 1 p.m.
