HARRISON – Dixfield Babe Ruth completed a 16-1 season by winning the Tri-County Babe Ruth League baseball championship July 3 at Field of Dreams.
Spencer Ross led off the top of the 11th inning with a triple, and Eric Bolduc followed with a single to right field to knock in Ross for the winning run in a 5-4 triumph over against a tough Norway team.
Ross also pitched the top of the 11th to pick up the victory. Cliff Turner pitched five shutout innings to keep Dixfield in the game.
Cody Hadley and Alex Newton combined to pitch 11 strong innings for Norway. Ross had three hits and Bolduc, Tyler Chiasson, Cliff Turner and Caleb Turner each added two for Dixfield. Erik Henderson led Norway with three hits, while Hadley, Newton and Dillon Frechette all contributed two.
Dixfield had tournament victories against Peru, Norway, Bridgton and Norway again to capture its first Tri-County league championship. Bolduc, Chiasson, Cliff Turner and Ross pitched marvelously throughout the tournament.
