AUBURN – On Saturday, July 19, the Board of Governors of the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic will sponsor the third-annual Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic Golf Tournament at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Auburn. Registration starts at 11 a.m., with a shot-gun start at noon.
Entry forms are available online at www.korashriners.org under the events column. Team entry forms must be completed by Tuesday, July 15. Teams are $400 or $100 per player. A sit-down, buffet style meal with the choice of steak or chicken will follow.
The par-3 third hole features a hole-in-one contest for $10,000 sponsored by O’Connor Motor Group, and the par-3 No. 16 features a hole-in-one for a new Harley-Davidson sponsored by L/A Harley-Davidson. There will be pre-tournament gifts along with many other prizes and contests.
All net proceeds raised in the golf tournament will help benefit the Shriners Hospitals of North America. The Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 pediatric specialty hospitals, founded by the Shrine, where children under the age of 18 receive excellent medical care at no cost to the child or the child’s family.
This golf tournament will start off a week-long training camp that features high school football players, coaches and cheerleaders preparing for the 19th Annual Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic football game on Friday, July 25 at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford. To date, over hundreds of players, cheerleaders, coaches and Shrine volunteers have participated in the game and have helped to raise over $300,000 in support of the Shriners Hospitals.

Norway Triathlon taking final registrations
NORWAY – The 2008 Norway Triathlon is taking final registrations, making last minute preparations for the event. Pennesseewassee Park will be closed from 8pm July 18 until noon July 19 to make way for the competition.
More than 75 triathletes have registered to date. Registration will end at 8 p.m. on Friday July 18th if not before. Solo competitors and teams of three may register for the 1-kilometer swim in Lake Pennesseewassee, the 15-kilometer bike to North Norway, and 5-kilometer run in the Norway Lake neighborhood,. Go online to www.norwaytri.com or register by mail via www.wfltmaine.org. The Norway triathlon is a USAT (USA Triathlon) sanctioned event.
Proceeds of this year’s triathlon will benefit the Western Foothills Land Trust’s Roberts Farm Preserve project.

NASCAR’s Harvick signing autographs
PORTLAND – 2007 Daytona 500 champion Kevin Harvick will sign autographs from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 17 at Quirk Chevrolet, 1000 Brighton Ave.
The appearance is planned in advance of Harvick’s entry in the TD Banknorth 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway on July 20. Quirk is the exclusive sponsor of Harvick’s car for that race. The car will be on display at the dealership July 16 and 17 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
