FARMINGTON – The hot dog giveaway on the July 4th at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church was a success, said the Rev. Susan Crane.

Crane, director of the Franklin County Ecumenical Heating Fund, said it was enlarged by $1,334.70, more than double last year. There were 400 people served.

The church provided the hot dogs and watermelon at no charge in order to help replenish the Ecumenical Heating Fund for the coming winter. Last winter the fund helped 83 families throughout Franklin County with 50 to 100 gallons of home heating fuel.

The need this coming heating season will be greater than ever. Contributions are received all year long. Send checks payable to “Ecu Heat” to P.O. Box 147, Farmington, ME 04938. Contributions made by check are tax deductible and will be acknowledged.
