NEW VINEYARD – The New Vineyard Public Library will offer the following events:
Tuesday, July 29, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Storytime with Glenda Hargreaves reading “Thundercake” by Patricia Polacco. Cook up and sample a batch of real thundercake.
Tuesdays in August will bring Story Camp with the theme “Catch the Reading Bug!” from 10:30 a.m. to noon with the following schedule:
Aug. 5: A book, “Velma Glatch and the Way Cool Butterfly” by Alan Madison and Kevin Hawkes, will be read. Guest will be Judy Smith, University of Maine Cooperative Extension, who will give a presentation on butterflies.
Aug. 12: A book, “Hey There, Stink Bug!” by Leslie Bulion, will be read by guest, State Rep. Tom Saviello.
Aug. 19: Special guests will be Ashley Tardif, 15, and Shaina Tardif, 13, who will share their knowledge of beekeeping.
There will be crafts, games, snacks, hand-outs and prizes each week.
On Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10:30 a.m. to noon Bea Otte and her son, Matthew, 8, will bring a presentation on sign language. Matthew is hearing impaired and came here from China.
The activities are open to all ages, though it is asked that a caregiver attend with those under age 5.
