New thrift shop

RANGELEY – The Episcopal Church Women of Good Shepherd are announcing the cancellation of their Aug. 8 and 9 rummage sale. In its place, the new Thrift Shoppe will be open at that time from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, and 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 9.

In addition, the Thrift Shoppe, located in the undercroft, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday and Wednesday, except for the last Tuesday of the month when it will be open from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Some open hours coincide with the local food bank hours. Items are marked with reasonable prices. Clothing for all ages, household and gift items are available.

Grange program

EAST LIVERMORE – Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at New Norland Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The program for the 7:30 meeting will be presented by the Legislative Committee. There will be a 50/50 raffle and attendance drawing.

Lecturers meeting

FARMINGTON – Grange lecturers and others from across the Northeast will gather at the University of Maine at Farmington on Monday, Aug. 4, for the 93rd annual Northeast Grange Lecturer’s Conference.

More than 160 full- and part-time participants (with more than 70 members from Maine) will assemble to share ideas and concepts. In the Grange organization, lecturers are responsible for providing education, information and entertainment to the Grange membership.

Presenters and guests from the National Grange will include Ed Luttrell, master/president, Judy Sherrod, lecturer, and Rusty Hunt, membership/leadership director.

Board meeting

CPR class

NORWAY – A CPR class will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Monday and Thursday, Aug. 7, 11 and 14, at Stephens Memorial Hospital’s Harper Conference Center: Call 743-1562, ext. 707, to register. Cost is $15.

Blood drive

CASCO – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Point Sebago.

Magic show

WATERFORD – The Waterford Library will host a magic show for kids of all ages at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the Wilkins House.

The show will last approximately one hour, and all are welcome.

The presenter will be Dennis Labbe, who started practicing magic at the age of 7. He has been performing the magic arts professionally for the past 17 years. The theme of the show is “Catch the Reading Bug.”

Admission is free, but donations to the library will be accepted. The Wilkins Hall is near the library, next to the Waterford Congregational Church, 15 Plummer Hill Road.

Grange supper

OXFORD – A public supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Oxford Grange, Route 26. Menu will include smothered beef. Takeout will be available. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.
