New Beginnings plan annual 5k race

LEWISTON – The New Beginnings board of directors is planning its fifth annual 5K Race for Sunday, Oct. 12, in Lewiston. The Run for Homeless Youth will be filled with prizes and surprises, said Dawne Havener, race chairwoman.

She said, “We have a new venue lined up, with a new course which winds its way through downtown Lewiston.”

New Beginnings operates a program for youth who are in need of services due to family conflict and/or homelessness.

The annual Run for Homeless Youth attracts more than 100 runners annually, and funds raised go to assist homeless youth, shelter, street outreach and transitional living programs.

Businesses and individuals interested in being sponsors can call Bob Rowe at 795-4077.

Registration is $15 and forms are available online at NewBeginmaine.org.
