Peru student wins prize in international contest
RUMFORD – Chad Berry from Peru Elementary School won a $100 prize from the Grande Aerie in the “What I Like Best About My Home Town” art contest.
“We are tremendously proud of Chad and of all the students whose entries indicate pride and knowledge of their community,” said Fred Allen, president of Eagles Aerie 1248.
The art contest has been sponsored by the FOE for 32 years in April, which the Eagles have designated as “Boost Your Home Town Month” throughout the United States and Canada.
The purpose of the contest, open to students in grades three through six, is to promote community pride and awareness. All of the drawings and the other 16 winning entries were on display at the FOE’s international convention in Louisville, Ky., in mid-August.
