NORWAY – Voters will decide Thursday whether to spend money to fix several roads that officials say have potential erosion problems.
The special town meeting opens at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at the municipal building on Danforth Street.
Voters will be asked to appropriate $100,000 from the economic development reserve account and the salt damage liability account, and $50,000 from an undesignated fund. The money will pay for, among other things, work on Don Hunt Road and Dunn Road.
Selectmen approved the warrant after meeting with the Norway Road Commission last week.
Officials said that although paving work had been scheduled for Crockett Ridge Road, a recent discovery of poor base conditions on both Don Hunt and Dunn roads necessitated quick action to avoid any washout problems.
In other action, voters will be asked to approve repaying the salt liability account at the rate of $3,300 a year for three years and to repay the economic development account $15,000 a year for three years.
