WEST PARIS – Selectmen have scheduled a public hearing for Monday, Sept. 15, on an environmental assessment of the former Penley Mill complex on Penley Avenue.
Deputy Town Clerk Holly Packard said the hearing will present results of a study done to make sure logs stored on the property are not having a negative effect on the groundwater and soil in the area.
“Soil and water samples from the area are being collected and assessed and the hearing will update the people on results and give them a chance to ask questions,” Packard said.
The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. in the meeting room at the town office on Kingsbury Street.
In other business, selectmen unanimously appointed Mary Emery as the town’s representative to the board of directors for the Tri-Town Ambulance and Rescue Service.
She has served on the staff of the service for many years.
