HALIFAX, Vt. (AP) – A Halifax man is facing charges of reckless endangerment for allegedly firing a shotgun when a lost motorist turned around in his field.

Police say Stephen L. Barrows, 57, pointed the gun into the air and not at the vehicle or the driver on Aug. 24.

Barrows denied the charges, telling police he yelled and waved a broom at the driver because he was turning around on his lawn on Whitneyville Road.

But six witnesses – including those in the vehicle and one traveling behind it – told police they saw Barrows firing a shotgun.

Barrows is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 14.
