TURNER – Courtney Erskine scored on a stroke at the 26:32 mark of the first half to lift Leavit to a 1-0 victory over Belfast in a KVAC field hockey game Wednesday.

The Hornets (2-0) pressured Belfast (0-1) early with multiple shots.

After Belfast’s keeper Paxton Mahoney trapped the ball, Erskine stepped up and fired a rocket into the goal.

Kristen Capen made nine saves for Leavitt to preserve the shutout. Mahoney turned aside nine shots betwen the posts for Belfast.

St. Dom’s 7, Waynflete 0

AUBURN – Mary Lewis turned in a solid performance, notching four goals and an assist to pace the St. Dom’s to a 7-0 victory over Waynflete on Wednesday afternoon.

Liza Dox and Colleen Rideout each contributed a goal and an assist for the Saints (1-1) attack, while Taylor Tarr rounded out the scoring.

Kelsey Murphy needed to make just three saves to earn the shutout.

Jay 2, Winthrop 1

JAY – With 5:37 left in the contest, Kelsea Beisaw fired a shot from the top of the circle and watched as the game-winning goal bounced its way through and into the goal to give Jay a 2-1 field hockey triumph over Winthrop.

Gina Nemi scored the first goal for Jay (2-0), poking the ball into the left side of the cage. Nemi was also credited with the assist on Beisaw’s shot.

For Winthrop (1-1), Nikki Scott notched an early goal in the second half.

Messalonskee 2, EL 1

OAKLAND – Lauren Hachey and Hannah Thornberg each scored an unassisted goal in the first half as Messalonskee edged past Edward Little 2-1 on Wednesday.

Karen Leary drove in the lone Edward Little (1-1) goal from just inside the circle off a pass from Josie Lahey to cut the Eagles (2-0) advantage in half.

Gardiner 11, Lewiston 0

LEWISTON – Four different players scored two goals apiece as Gardiner dominated over Lewiston 11-0 in field hockey action.

Rebecca Paradis, Haley Chadbourne, Ashley Work, and Ashley Hickey each netted a pair of goals, while Marissa Lawrence, Kaylee Heath, and Jillian Philbrook also each scored for the Tigers win.

Gardiner outshot Lewiston, 44-1, and didn’t allow the Blue Devils a single penalty corner against them, while the Tigers had 18 corners in the contest.

Emily Craig made 21 saves and Samantha Thibault has 17 saves for the Blue Devils. Kaitlyn Morissette and Alley Beaulieu split time in the goal for Gardiner, combining for just three saves.

Oak Hill 2, Rockland 1

ROCKLAND – Kayla Clark scored back-to-back goals in the second half to help Oak Hill come from behind and post a 2-1 victory over Rockland on Wednesday afternoon.

Rockland (0-2) got on the board first with an unassisted goal by Olivia O’Hara, who beat the Raiders keeper in a one-on-one matchup.

Oak Hill’s Clark answered with a tying goal at 17:58 in the second half off a pass from Hannah Rancourt. Clark’s game-winning goal came off a penalty stroke with just 8:05 remaining in the contest.

Lisbon 5, Boothbay 1

BOOTHBAY – Katie Fitzgerald and Kelly Bourgoin netted two goals apiece Wednesday to lead Lisbon to a 5-1 victory over Boothbay in a MVC field hockey matchup.

Fitzgerald’s goals were off penalty corners.

Kait Dingley also tallied for the Greyhounds, while Bougoin added an assist. Monica Lakin needed no saves to post the win.

Kelsey Piche led the defense for Lisbon, holding the Sea Hawks to one goal.

Telstar 4, Liv. Falls 0

LIVERMORE FALLS – Whitney Mills neted a pair of goals Wednesday to lead Telstar to a 4-0 rout over Livermore Falls in MVC field hockey action.

T.J. Cowin and Feclicia Dumont also tallied for the Rebels (2-0) to complete the scoring. Brie Douglass made 15 saves for Telstar to notch the shutout.

Caylee Morris turned aside nine shots for the Andies (1-1), who played a strong game defensively despite the final score.

Telstar never scored until the final nine minutes of play in the first half, and there was only 10 minutes left in the game when Mills scored her second goal. The Andies even outshot their opponent 16-10 overall, but lacked the accuracy to score goals.

Soccer

Mt. Blue 5, Nokomis 1

NEWPORT – Marlie Mochamer netted back-to-back goals in the second half to help ensure the 5-1 Mt. Blue win over Nokomis in a KVAC soccer soccer matchup.

Hannah Allen, Nara Montenegro, and Chelsea Thompson each scored for the Cougars (2-0) as well. Mt. Blue was dominant on the field, outshooting the Warriors 31-8.

The lone Nokomis (0-2) goal was tallied unassisted by Becky Wolinkski.

Cony 4, Leavitt 0

TURNER – Cassie Diplock netted four goals as Cony cruised to a 4-0 victory over Leavitt in KVAC girl’s soccer action Wednesday.

Susanna Deeves, Naomi Miller and MacKenzie all contributed for the Rams (2-0) with assists, while Liz Barker needed only three saves to record the shutout.

Danielle Dubois turned aside eight shots for the Hornets (0-2).

Mt. Ararat 2, Edward Little 1

AUBURN – Hayley Michaud was successful on a long shot from the corner with 22:15 remaining in the game to lift Mt. Ararat to a 2-1 victory over Edward Little.

Randi Lunden also tallied for the Eagles (2-0) to complete the scoring. Lauren Vachon made four saves to post the win.

Alyssa Levesque tallied a first-half goal for the Red Eddies (1-1), while Kirsten Prue turned aside eight shots between the posts.

Poland 0, Lake Region 0

NAPLES – The Poland Knights and the Lake Region Lakers drew to a 0-0 tie in girls’ soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

Poland (1-0-1) outshot Lake Region, 16-7, but couldn’t slip one passed Lakers’ keeper Chelsea Meyers, who made 10 saves.

The Knights’ were led by their own netminder, Samantha St. Pierre, who blocked six shots.

Mt. Abram 5, Jay/Livermore Falls 0

SALEM – Rachel Fullerton, Rebecca London, and Maria Parrett each tallied a goal and had an assist as Mt. Abram beat Jay/Livermore Falls 5-0 on Wednesday.

Molly McCafferty and Emma James rounded out the scoring effort for the Roadrunners (2-0). Kenni Norton needed to make just one save for the shutout.

St. Dom’s 1, Gray-New Gloucester 1

GRAY – Erynne Landry converted a pass from Maggie Gamble to lift St. Dom’s to a 1-1 tie with Gray-New Gloucester in local girl’s soccer action.

The Saints (1-0-1) trailed 1-0 at the half before rallying back to tie the contest.

Elise Applegate made 12 saves for St. Dom’s, while Taylor Dsmon turned aside 17 shots for the Patriots (0-0-1).

Marley Mooney tallied the lone goal for Gray-New Gloucester.
