Healing energy topic of cancer program

RUMFORD – “Working with Healing Energy to Manage Pain and Fatigue” will be the fourth in a six-series program for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers presented at Rumford Hospital through the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center.

The Thursday, Sept. 25, workshop will be offered by Reiki practitioner Deb Gorham, RN, and energy healer Rhonda Ouelette, registered counselor.

Emily Ecker, a licensed clinical social worker, will also be on hand. She is the outreach oncology social worker with the Dempsey Center. Ecker provides services to patients and their families one day each week at Rumford Hospital through the Dempsey Center.

Future topics in the series will cover the emotional and spiritual impact of cancer and gathering resources through the Internet.

The series is presented free from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Rumford Hospital. The series will continue on Thursdays, Oct. 2 and 9.
