FARMINGTON – Local women can have high quality breast and cervical health screenings at one appointment at a special Women’s Wellness Day screening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Franklin Health Medical Arts Center.

Screenings are open to all women with or without insurance. In addition to a physical and mammogram, every woman who attends the screening will also have an opportunity to receive a free cholesterol and blood pressure check, a bone density screening, massage and facial, light snacks and gift bag.

A world marketplace benefit fair trade crafts fair will be held at the same time in the Bass Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital, with proceeds to benefit a Nicaraguan Women’s Clinic. The center has an adjoining corridor to Franklin Memorial Hospital for easy access.

Maine women 40 and older who have no insurance or whose insurance does not cover annual mammograms or Pap tests or women who have a high deductible may qualify to receive free services at the screening through the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program. Enrollment also qualifies women for treatment coverage should any breast or cervical conditions be diagnosed.

Women without insurance who do not meet the income guidelines for the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program may qualify for a free mammogram through funding available from the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Sponsors of the screening day are the Healthy Community Coalition, Franklin Community Health Network, HealthReach Community Health Centers, the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund, the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

To make an appointment for a mammogram and physical, call 779-2405 or 1-800-398-6031, ext. 2405. Space is limited.
