AUBURN – A truck backed into a utility pole on Broad Street Tuesday, cutting power to more than 2,300 homes and businesses for nearly an hour.
The truck hit the guy wire that stabilizes the Central Maine Power utility pole around noon. The crash shook the pole and snapped a main electrical wire, causing 2,349 customers to lose power. CMP restored electricity to the area by 12:55 p.m.
