RUMFORD – Newcomer Matt Peterson, 30, was leading the vote late Tuesday night in a race with former legislator Rob Cameron, 61, for the District 92 seat.
With only Rumford and Rangeley Plantation reporting in, Peterson led Cameron 2,388 to 1,208.
Cameron served four terms in the Maine House of Representatives, ending in 2000 when he was termed out. He is a Rumford selectman, and former employee of NewPage Corp. He currently farms his land on the South Rumford Road.
Peterson, an independent living specialist at Alpha One, Maine’s Center for Independent Living, South Portland, made his first run for elective office. His father, Jim, was a longtime selectman in Rumford.
